   DIRECTOR OF CODE ENFORCEMENT (Construction Official & Building Subcode Official) Available: June 15, 2026

Seeking a qualified candidate to serve full-time as Director of Code Enforcement. This department head position manages and coordinates the Township’s Code Enforcement Department. The position serves as the Township’s Construction Official and Building Subcode Official and is a working title responsible for plan review, inspections, enforcement, and related field and office functions. The Director oversees code enforcement, zoning enforcement, all subcode functions, fire official functions, engineering functions, permitting, inspections, and records management. The current incumbent is retiring after 25 years of service. The Township employs part-time officials and inspectors for plumbing, electrical, and fire subcodes. If needed, the Township will employ part-time building inspectors to assist with inspections.


Candidates must possess valid NJ Construction Official, Building Subcode Official, and Building Inspector licenses-HHS level, consistent with a Class 1 enforcing agency. A valid driver’s license is required. Strong supervisory, administrative, inspection, and enforcement experience is preferred. Prior municipal experience is strongly preferred.
Salary is $100,000+, negotiable based on experience and expertise. FLSA status: Managerial-Exempt. PERS pension enrollment required. Health insurance is available through the State Health Benefits Program. Employee-paid dental coverage available. Deferred Compensation 457 available. Anticipated start date - June 15, 2026.
